Kiera Knitghtley is so good in a period piece. Colette is happily married to WIlly, however he locks her in the room so she will write the novels he takes credit for. She slowly comes to the knowledge that his fame is really hers and slowly finds herself and has the guts to leave him.Beautifully filmed, costumed, and directed. Kiera is clearly the queen of period pieces now. Many may not like some of the scenes - but it was her life.

Beautiful filmReviewed bypamma09Vote: 7/10
I was looking forward to this, as an author of 24 books, but was disappointed that so much time was spent on the sex scandals. The content and some of the nudity and sex scenes should have made this rated R. This is definitely not a family-friendly film. You can read my full movie review at Movie Review Mom (dot) com.
The characters and the way they develop is believable. I can see that the Bible bashers are going to bash this film. It's not for them. It shows an open relationship and how every nuance and detail is shared and how they relate. The acting is spot on. The story is an untold story in cinema for the period drama. It's a beautiful film for the two of us that saw it and not the usual subject matter that would engage us. Not a dull moment and perfectly told. Outstanding film and a classic in my book. Expect a classic film it will deliver.
